My goal was to explore the ways in which different jazz drummers use and consider the idea of playing melodically on the drums. The history of jazz drumming is rich with great drummers who defined this idea. I also interviewed many of world’s greatest jazz drummers to find out, from the source, how they think about using melody while playing the drums.
